Babymoon!

2007-09-20

This trip was our “final fling” before being thrown into the wonderful-but-irreversible world of babydom. I’ve heard other people refer to trips like this as a “Babymoon”. It’s been very very fun. Perhaps too fun. But I am ready now to return to Clive our cat, and to check on the garden and other plants and see how they fared. Good thing, too, because our flight leaves tomorrow morning!

Here are a few highlights from the trip:

Make Way For Ducklings
We spent a week in Boston – saw so many cool historical things. What really spoke to the kid in me were these statues; Robert McKlosky’s book Make Way For Ducklings was set in the Boston Public Gardens. It was one of my favorite books as a kid (maybe still is!) These bronze statues were placed in the Public Garden to commemorate (is that the right word?) that book! You can tell that the little girl is totally into them – she was so excited!

On Friday we came back to Long Island, where Brian’s dad and his wife live with their puppy, Zeus.
Zeus and Brenna
Isn’t he just the cutest?!

Here’s a picture Brian took when we went on a wetlands tour of a Great White Crane.

Wednesday we went into the city – we did all sorts of things all over. One of the highlights was getting to see the Statue of Liberty in person. It was so amazing to think of how it would feel to arrive in New York harbor after a long journey over the sea, to be greeted by this amazing symbol of freedom.

Anyway, that’s just a smidge of what we’ve been up to the last couple of weeks. Click on the pictures in the sidebar to visit my Flickr page and see even more!
